Ok, not the band, but actual eagles.

The next day we ended up staying further up the island, still in Parksville, at a campground that included a huge mini-golf range and bumper boats.  We tried neither, but I did amuse myself doing all the laundry that had accumulated.  Actually, there were 2 eaglets in the large trees above us that kept us entertained for hours.  Their mom showed up a few times but we never did see the male who sometimes brings home a large salmon for dinner.

From our campsite beach, we could see the Canadian Open Sand Sculpting competition and summerfest tents.  So we drove down to that area the next day and admired the winning entries.  I reminded me a lot of the ice sculptures in Ottawa.  It’s amazing how detailed the work is.

When we arrived at the beach, we got on our bicycles to ride on the boardwalk.  We also got a nice fresh cup of Melitta coffee for free from the local rep.  He told us all about Melitta, the inventor of the coffee filter.
