Well, summer arrived officially last week and we are already past many of the big items we had planned.  The major one was moving my mother in law out of her house on the mainland to her new home on the Island.  That meant lots of packing and a nice ferry ride there and back.  The new house overlooks a bay with a few boats harboured there.  The back of the house has a large deck which is perfect for entertaining.  And I know she will love living with her daughter and son in law.  She will feel safe and in good company from now on.

We had a farewell bbq at our house the night before she moved so the grandchildren and great grandchildren could visit.  That turned out really well with everyone making an effort to attend.  I know she was touched.

Meanwhile back at the ranch here, we’ve been working on sprucing up our little Roadie.  I got some fabric to match the existing upholstery and carpet.  I’ve made new curtains/blinds for the windows.  It took me 3 days to complete the work, but I am liking the results.

Leon also made us a great closet area, improving our storage immensely!  Now I can just take out any of the fabric baskets, load them with my clothes and put them back in their proper place.  My clothes will no longer fall out each time I open the closet door.  Yeah!

The next improvement is new flooring to replace the very tired vinyl.  It’s a small area, but new wood-look vinyl plank will be a big improvement for both look and wearability.  Leon is working on that as I write this.

There will be paint and new lighting in coming weeks but we have to get back to our travel schedule.  Tomorrow, we are taking a short vacation in the interior to visit friends.  We plan to travel to Kamloops, Vernon, Kelowna and Osoyoos.  I am hoping we will have a place to stay each night as it is Canada Day weekend.

And just so you don’t think it’s been all work and no play, we stopped in Steveston yesterday for a nice lunch by the waterfront.  I had a grilled salmon with veggies and chips with a cider on ice.  Leon enjoyed a chicken taco.  The view was great and we felt like we were on a mini-vacation.
