After what seemed like an interminable winter, I am finally done school and ready to leave for my summer travels tomorrow morning. The Roadtrek is packed with all the items I think we will need – clothing, food, a bit of wine, some knitting, some reading, a whole lot of electronics and a bunch of CAA tourbooks. Our first stop should be around Leamington, Ontario. We hope to do some cycling in Point Pelee National Park on Monday, perhaps visit a winery, and then move on to Ann Arbor, Michigan. Hopefully we won’t have any trouble finding a place to stay for the night, what with Canada Day weekend festivities and all.
Tonight, we had a lovely dinner outdoors with my daughter and her partner. I picked up some large lobsters which were accompanied by new potatoes, blueberries and spring mix salad and a lot of French bread. Dessert was my mother’s specialty and my favourite, blueberry pudding.
I hope you will check in with us often over the next 8 weeks as we travel west through the US and on to coastal BC. The plan is to visit the Gulf Islands and Haida Gwaii, much further to the north. And on the way, we plan to catch up with family and friends we haven’t seen in a while.
My husband loves blueberry muffins so would love the blueberry pudding recipe when you get back from your travels! I’m sure you & Leon will have a wonderful trip as always as you are such seasoned travellers & have travel down to a fine art!!! Sue Rawlings, Bendigo, Australia (where you enjoyed a working holiday)

Thanks Helen! I was reminiscing about our east coast tour last year and encouraging my daughter to take a long weekend in the Maritimes or at least Maine this summer. She would be the third generation of women in my family to enjoy the beautiful east coast.
